Partners

Blue Citizen e.V. is an official partner of the German Committee for the UN Decade of Ocean Science (ODK for short), one of 40 national committees worldwide that support the implementation of the Decade of Ocean Science in their countries.

The 15 volunteer members of the ODK and its office act as a hub for the implementation of the Ocean Decade in Germany: they provide information about opportunities to participate in the Ocean Decade; they promote existing initiatives through visibility work; they identify desiderata in the implementation of the Decade and bridge these - to a limited extent - with projects initiated and implemented with the network. The goal, even beyond the Ocean Decade, is the permanent national anchoring of scientifically informed protection and sustainable use of the oceans.

We are also official partners of The Blue Thread - a global network by UNESCO-IOC and Prada Group uniting those who promote ocean literacy, sustainability, and the principles of the Venice Declaration.

The Blue Thread connects individuals and organizations working in line with the principles of the Venice Declaration for Ocean Literacy. By fostering wider collaboration, they are amplifying the impact of Ocean Literacy efforts and celebrating the people behind ocean-conscious initatives worldwide.
